THE REAL DEAL Showcase is back in joining forces with Aliwal Urban Arts Festival!

The dance scene in Singapore has been growing tremendously. Did you know that our future generation has been representing Singapore on the World Stage and even won numerous awards?

At Aliwal Urban Arts Festival 2025, THE REAL DEAL Showcase Ed. 03 will celebrate and showcase the joy of dance from our various generations. You will also witness upcoming crews who are making waves in the scene. What's a community without participation from the public?

Before our showcase commences, join us in a party where both the public and dancers can get down on the dance floor together. DJ G.Mak from our 2019 edition will be back on the wheels and for the first time in our showcase edition, Emcee Slim will be on the mic.

About Artists:

Curator & Emcee: Darren 'dt' Toh
Darren also known as dt, has been a prominent figure since 2006. He has won multiple championships locally and regionally, judged by world-renowned street dancers and choreographers. His talent has led him to conduct workshops and judge competitions internationally, attracting attention from artistes, choreographers, music and movie directors. Even performing, for the President of Singapore.

He is also the organiser of THE REAL DEAL, where it features dance showcase, workshops, battles (SG’s 1st All Styles & Hip Hop League) and podcast. His diverse experience underscores his stature in the dance world.

Emcee Slim
Putting away his B-Boy shoes and headphone. Emcee Slim is picking up the mic at this Showcase Edition. Y’all can probably hear his iconic laughter from a mile away. Keeping it fresh and breezy!

DJ G.Mak
DJ G,Mak is back from retirement, just to spin your favourite tunes at THE REAL DEAL Showcase Edition.
If you enjoyed Ed. 01, you will definitely party hard at Ed. 03!

Mellonic and Rin
Mellonic and Rin (Nic Chung & Xiangyi) has been dancing for more than 35 years combined. This power duo is currently paving the way for the next generation of waacking and hip hop.

Ashleigh Tan
Ashleigh loves dancing since the age of 4 and has undergone training in various dance genres such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Hip Hop. She has competed in numerous competitions locally and internationally, receiving high accolades for her achievements. Recently, she was crowned World Dancer of the Year, Runner Up at the World Dance Movement Festival 2024 in Italy.

Missy A/J
Formed in late 2023, Missy A/J is a Hip Hop dance duo consisting of Asheeqah and Jemma. They made their debut appearance in May 2024, joining their first dance competition and achieving “Champion”. Since then, they never look back and continue to hone their craft. Their goal is to improve their skills consistently and to have loads of fun on stage.

NVP
Players of this game we love, pushing through training and levelling. We are the NVPs.

Izac Tan
Izac has been dancing competitively since 5 years ago, starting with Jazz and later, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Tap and Musical Theatre. He has achieved both local and international championships such as Champion Dancer at Get The Beat 2024 dance competition in Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Taiwan).

Guesthouse
Guesthouse is an assembly of like-minded house dancers, consisting of teachers and students of all levels and backgrounds. They promote inclusivity and centre their emphasis on dance culture around sharing music and community education.

Suiyobi Crew
Suiyobi Crew is a young and vibrant group, united by a shared passion for dance and a deep love for J-Pop culture. Their journey began with a fiery debut at Rhythm (SMU’s recital), and since then, Suiyobi Crew has lit up the stage at major anime festivals such as Anime Festival Asia and EOY J-Culture Festival.

STEP FAM
One Family, One Movement. STEP Fam always telling their stories through dance and movement.

Urban Terrain Groovers
Urban Terrain Groovers, otherwise known as UTG, was established in 2006. Despite being trained in a myriad of styles, the crew specialises in mainly Hip Hop, B-Boy and their niche, Tumbling, giving them an iconic identity, which helped them clinch numerous championships.

Foreign Bodies
Founded in 1994, Foreign Bodies is put together by a motley bunch of young teenagers who just love dancing too much. Their energy and their burning interest for their passion is what keeps them to this level today. They unite to groove to the same tunes, stay together like a family and strive to entertain with the art of dance.

waRRiors Invaders
Formerly known as Tuesday Warriors, they are a group of Hip Hop dancers that does both choreography and freestyle, under the guidance of their mentor, Ryezal.

The Friday Waacking Club
Formed in 2016, The Friday Waacking Club is made up of unique individuals from all walks of life, united in Cat Lady’s Friday waacking lesson with the same love for disco music and waacking genre. These 30-something year old felines will bring you a purr-fect blend of old and new!

Soul Collective
Marking a significant milestone for Singapore’s soul dance scene, the Soul Collective represents the culmination of efforts by dedicated educators who have been shaping the scene since the inception of “Sakura Boyz”. They have steadfastly dedicated themselves to refining their craft in soul dance.

High-T
High-T, a dynamic Singapore-based female popping group known for their passion and love for popping dance. Actively representing themselves on both local and international stages, they continue to leave their mark in the dance scene individually and as a collective.
